When in a dream state, time feels suspended. What may be two minutes in “real” time may feel like two weeks in a dream. In order to make my viewer experience this sense of time through a single frame composition, I chose to use 35 mm color film. To capture suspended time I decided to replace a pillow with Jello. I hoped that this would also translate the sleep experience to a more extreme incubation state where time feels even more frozen. I created about five Jello molds in different colors to see which would best capture the mood I wanted, but ultimately chose the clear plain gelatin. If I was able to install this piece I would hope to use many of the photographs I took printed large scale installed alongside large masses of Jello throughout the gallery space.
