AMTheory #4: Making Social Media Work for You

AMTheory #4: Making Social Media Work for You

What: Managing Your Online Presence: Making Social Media Work for You
When: Thursday, October 23, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Where: Parsons Paris, 45 rue Saint-Roch, 75001, room 102
Who: Anne S. Ditmeyer

asdSocial media breaks down hierarchies and gives you access and insights into people, places, organizations, companies and brands like never before. It can allow you to make connections and help you land your dream job straight out of school, as your online presence – website, blog, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. – is a first impression that for many industries can be weighted as much as, if not more than, a traditional CV. (Think show, don’t tell.)

Nothing you will learn in this workshop will be earth shattering. In fact, much of it will be common sense. However, it is stuff that is repeatedly overlooked or done wrong, even by industry leaders and Fortune 500 companies (#missedopportunity). Learning to do it right will give you the leg up and open doors in addition to learning the art of self-promotion which will save you a lot of money on a PR company down the line. Additionally, when used to its full potential social media can be an incredible tool for research. You know you’re using it right when it’s fun for you and doesn’t feel like work.

The best way to understand social media is to actively use it. This intensive workshop will focus on streamlining and connecting the dots in your overall web presence, focusing on Twitter and Instagram. Please be prepared to log into your accounts and make updates your profiles/websites. Also, bring any questions you may have.

Open to all Parsons Paris students, faculty, and staff. If you are not a D+T student, pleasesign up here to RSVP; space is limited.
