Final Statement: Billboard Jacket
This jacket is meant to be a sort of portable billboard that allows a person to physically wear their thoughts on their bodies. A clear vinyl pocket on the back of the garment allows signs to be placed and seen easily in the day or nighttime. Ideally, for better nighttime use, the signs would be made with glow in the dark paint or reflective materials. On the front and sides of the jacket are strips of reflective tape, which call attention the to piece when one is wearing it; this pulls people’s eyes towards the wearer and therefore their written statements. When a person uses this jacket, they are literally wearing their thoughts and opinions—the closeness of the sign to the person provides an intimate feeling that implies a passion and sincerity behind what is written.
