There is a girl who rides the elevator. She is new to New York city and is still in the midst of adjusting. Between her fast and busy life she has few moments of silence due to Manhattan’s noise. However, she finds stillness in the elevator as she approaches to leave her apartment. Riding the elevator is something she used to take for granted in the city, until she noticed the quietness in the space. She rides the elevator all the way from floor 17, which gives her time to breathe and enjoy a few seconds of tranquility. It makes her feel so serene, and less altered. This is something she does not feel anywhere else in New York. She senses a slight motion as the elevator goes down and it’s as if it’s relaxing, making her feel untroubled. She is interrupted by opening doors and is encountered with light, noise, and chaos. This is when she realizes her time in her noiseless space is over. She is about to step out into the streets of the city. Her emotions involving calmness and serenity begin to drift to those of excitement and chaos.
