FINAL DESIGN BRIEF
Project concept: The flow of time and movement of energy
Objectives and goals:
To create a visual representation of the flow of time and energy. This
representative model will give myself and other individuals an idea of the effect
that time has upon us starting with particles of energy. I want to show “What’s
really going on is things are becoming more correlated with each other,” Lloyd
recalls realizing. “The arrow of time is an arrow of increasing correlations.”
through creating representations of particles and showing their importance/
distortion as they flow through time.
Medium:
Mixed media. It will be a combination of illustrator and a 3D model
Required Materials:
-different colors of string
-computer
-nails
-wood
-rubber bands
-other materials that are to be determined
Research:
-the recent quantum theory
-investigate the flow of particles and energy
-different theories on the flow of time
Inspiration:
-“Energy disperses and objects equilibrate”
-“at a particular moment, a particle might have a 50 percent chance of spinning
clockwise and a 50 percent chance of spinning counterclockwise.”
-“When two particles interact, they can no longer even be described by their own,
independently evolving probabilities, called “pure states.” Instead, they become
entangled components of a more complicated probability distribution that
describes both particles together.”
-“It was as though the particles gradually lost their individual autonomy and
became pawns of the collective state. Eventually, the correlations contained all
the information, and the individual particles contained none.”
“What’s really going on is things are becoming more correlated with each other,” Lloyd recalls
realizing. “The arrow of time is an arrow of increasing correlations.”
Style/presentation:
-simple and professional
-aiming for a very complex but attractive design
(the more research the clearer the design)

Building the installation
Building my presentation
I will begin by introducing my theory, and explaining my interpretation of it. I will talk about how it connects to what we have seen in class and explain the purpose to why I created my project the way I did.
Afterwards I will turn off the lights and expose a blank slide on the projector and I will place my installation on top. The installation will reflect the correlations that I have created and the class will engage in a visual experience.
