I chose this piece as the one where the body is repeated. This neon light piece is showing different sex positions between bodies. It also plays with gender because of the phallic and yonic symbols and the ways the bodies are interacting with each other. This piece was made by manipulating neon wire and electrical currents.
This is the piece I thought was the scariest. It is a video series with different videos playing a room. There was maniacal laughter and tortured screaming happening throughout the room and some of my friends were too scared to go inside. It was a lot of video and photography work.
Here is where the body is transformed (and also repeated). There were several rooms that had to do with Nauman’s own body in his studio where “everything he made in that studio was art”. The body is transformed in this image by inversion and also cropping and splicing the visual videos. I really liked these performance pieces. Everyone was trying to figure out what it meant but I just kept thinking that he was defining it as his art and its obviously important makes your mind think.
