Power – 2nd of February

“So what have I learned after all this time? After all the sleepless nights, lying to friends, lovers, myself? Playing this crooked game in this crooked town filled with backstabbers and four faced liars? I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. One thing and one thing only. I FUCKING LOVE BERLIN ! ”

– James McAvoy in Atomic Blonde

Today I found myself watching the same 2 minutes of a movie in repeat long enough for me to be able to copy the exact intonation and moves of the actor. I wondered why this monologue felt so important. After reflection, I realized that I find it so powerful for the simple reason that it is a moment of realisation and truthfulness to the self.

It is so powerful to be able to face the reality of our behavior, especially after we have done wrong. It is the only way we can accept the mistake, learn from it and move on by fixing it. As we say, the mistake is human, but it is worthy of respect to admit our flaws and work on ourselves to become a better person.

This speech full of strong emotions as raging anger and heartbreaking nostalgia is a reminder to always keep striking for the best way to improve ourselves in order to be the most  beneficial to society.
