Smell- Cinnamon

The smell of cinnamon makes me directly to think about the Thanksgiving and the apple pie. Apple pies are the famous dessert in Thanksgiving. After eating the turkey, family members will stay together waiting for the dessert. The smell of apple pie will guide you to cut and eat them. The apple pie gives the Thanksgiving dinner a perfect ending. In the picture, this is an apple pie that made by my friends and I when I was in sophomore in high school. We made it by using 6 apples. First, I cut the apples in slices, and then mixed them in a big bowl with cinnamon in it. I putted many cinnamons, which can mix with every single apple slice. The smell of the process is sweet, woody and a little bit sour. Can’t wait to eat it. After this, I putted the apple slices in order on the base paste, and then putted another paste on it. Our host family told us that we needed to make some small cuts on the top paste in order to make the apple pie not to swell. During the baked, the smells of cinnamon and bread were full of the house. After 1 hour 30 minutes, the apple pie was ready to eat. Finally, we ate the apple pie. The apple pie tasted crisp and fragrant and sweet. The cinnamon was already melted in the apples, so the apple pie tasted not too sour not too sweet. It was very delicious.

Taste- Coffee

People drink coffee every day, and now there are many coffee stores in the world. So I think coffee culture has a significant influence in our lives. For me, the taste of coffee is a process, from bitter to sweet. During the process of coffee making, the fragrance of coffee will already attract your attention. Then when your start to drink it, you can feel the liquid of coffee on your taste bud. The smells of coffee excite your nerves to give you a clear mind. Then, the taste of coffee spread, from the rich to the aftertaste. It’s like tasting the life. A good coffee will taste sweet at the end, but a bad coffee will taste sour at the end. “No sweet without sweat” this is what my mother said when I was a small girl. I think the tasting of coffee gives me a similar feeling. At first, the coffee tastes so bitter, but when you slowly to savor it, the magical of coffee will appear. The bitter changes to sweet and mellow. The changing of taste needs to take time. Also, different reasons to drink coffee will get the different feelings. If I drink coffee for keeping awake, I will take a savage gulp at the coffee. At this time, coffee becomes a tool, and you will ignore its taste; however, when you hang out with your friends in an afternoon, a cup of coffee will become a key to open the talk. Overall, this is why I so enjoy in drinking coffee.

Sight- Fog

When the warm air mass is blowing over a cold surface or cold airflow, it will create fog. In the picture, the building which was blocked in the fog is Empire State Building. But because of the fog, people is hard to identify this building is Empire State Building. Sight is the range of view. If on a sunny day, people can see very far away, however, on the fog day, people’s sight will be limited. This situation of weather makes me think about the emotion of individuals. On the one hand, fog is dangerous. Normally, people have a clear mind and doing things after thinking. A clear mind is like a sunny day. However, when people get mad or have a high emotional fluctuation, which likes a fog day, their mind will be blocked by their emotion. Then people will do something our of control. I think this is the power of fog. Hence, it will block the sight of people, and the dangerous things might happen. On the other hand, fog is very lovely and romantic. If you live on a high floor inside a building, on the fog day, the fog will block all the view of your room. When you look out, you only can see the light gray fog. It will give you an illusion that you are living in the cloud. You are the man or woman lives in the sky. It’s very cool, because of the fog creates a sense of mysterious. Your sight was blocked so that you will be curious about the things will be happened around you. As the result, sight will affect people’s feeling or emotion.

Sound-Editing

The sound is sophisticated, not only it contains the most of the information that people want to communicate, but also it is a media for people enjoying and creating. For me, I created this sound by using the different vegetable, fruits, and glassing beads. It’s hard to tell that these sounds came from cutting the vegetables or playing the glassing beads. First, I recorded a collection of the sound by cutting different vegetable, fruits, and glassing bead. At first, if people hear it, they only heard some simple and clutter sounds, then I edited it by using Premiere, which is an Adobe application for editing movies and sound. During editing, I needed to hear all the sounds in the collection and found out the most unusual sounds or a great combination of sound; hence, I listened to the dull original sound again and again. After this, I put all the interesting sounds to a new collection and started to rearrange or to remake the sounds. It’s very exciting to see how the sounds change to a new version. The combination gives the sound reborn. You can hear the different layers of sound; some are close, and some others are far away. Also, some combination has a significant effect. It also creates a sense of time. How the sound change through time. People can get the information or story by hearing the sound carefully and quietly. By closing the eyes and sitting comfortable, you can get an amazing experience from listening.

Intuition

Intuition is a mysterious thing in the human world. People has the intuition about the future. I had a real experience. One of my friends deleted my contact information with no reason, and we did not contact each other for four years. We lived and studied in a different place. So without the contact information, we had no other ways to communicate.  After four years, we went to the same place. I found this information occasionally. Then I felt that if I did not add this person, I would lose a best friend. So I added her contact information. The first met is so naturally, just like we did not disconnect for four years. And definitely, she became my best friend. This experience makes me start believing the fate and intuition. Intuition is abstract. It’s not stuff that people can hold and trade. It’s a feeling about something. Besides, I think intuition has another meaning. Intuition is people’s guessing that base on the recent things and their knowledge. It is an indication of the things that might be happened in the future, such as when I put bread outside, and I will know that the bread will be getting bad in a few days. It is also an intuition. Also, from watching your familiar friends or family’s facial express, you can indicate what’s their emotion might be at that time. These guessings and actions are all called intuition, and it is very interesting and magical.
