Digital Gift

For the “Peer to Peer  Gift Assignment”, students were randomly paired with each other to interview one another, my partner was Amanda. We interviewed each other via audio recording, this step was crucial because it gave me better understanding of Amanda. It helped me brainstorm ideas for what my gift would be to her. After interviewing Amanda I choose to make her a cheesy inspirational photo titled “Resilience”. Her favorite animal is a panda so I chose that to be the main factor in this poster. After interviewing Amanda I found out that she has been through a lot, she in my opinion is a very strong and beautiful person so I chose to put her favorite food (pho noodles, topped with calla lilies, her favorite flower ) inside of a Kintsugi bowl. Kintsukuroi (“golden mend”) is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery using lacquer resin laced with gold or silver. It is also seen as a metaphor that broken things are beautiful, and going through hardships doesn’t make us any less that the beautiful people we are, it just  makes us become better individuals. The title is “Resilience” because I believe Amanda has the ability spring to shape and recover from hardships. I added the adult panda, along with the galaxy back drop to represent growth.
