1. Please describe your site and what aspects of that site that you love and hate that will inform a thesis question for that space.
My site is Carroll Gardens
I love the brownstones in Carroll Gardens, and the sense of Italian roots that you can find around the area. The fact that the neighborhood has been completely taken over by young upper-middle class families, is disheartening.
2. Make a first statement of your thesis
Dennett Place? Why has no gentrification happened in that alley in particular
3. On what scale will your investigation take place? Will it focus on architecture, environment, interior space, decoration, product??
Environment and product.
4. What media would you use to manifest that investigation and why?
Interview and observation.
5. Is your investigation object, process, experience/performance or spatially oriented?
Process and spatially oriented.
6. How will it involve or respond to users? Considering this answer begin to create a set of visualizations including one map and one drawn image that investigate linkages between the psychological and physical aspects of your thesis as it is manifested in the space you have chosen.
It will involve users in the sense that I will need to personally involve them in order to find out more about the area.
In your one on one discussion with Tony, discuss the following questions:
7. Does this investigation build upon or utilize skills you have developed to date?
8. Do you understand this exploration as one that it related to your major?
