This artist really resonates with me for many reasons. Lee is a photographer who seems to maintain this style of rawness. She puts herself in different cultural settings and uses herself as the main focus and most important, stereotype. Her photos have a very candid and real life view to them, which I find inspiring. She has a way of using herself in her own art without giving off any sense of self-obsession. I also love the idea of using yourself in your own art, and it is something I’ve tried to do in the past with photo manipulation and more. She puts each photo and each setting into different categories such as, “The Skateboard Project”, “The Punk Project”, “The Swingers Project” and more. Where she uses costume, position, setting and crowd to embody and generalize with one single photograph.
