Open project

My father had been a huge inspiration to me my entire life. I have always looked up to his views on life and he has always taught me to stay positive no matter the situation. One thing that has always stuck with me was his quote “how do you eat a whale? one bite at a time.” The inspiration from this quote came from the Shel Silverstein poem “Melinda Mae.” This poem is about a girl who wants to eat a whale, but of course whales are massive in size so it would take her a very long time. So that is what she did, She took one bite at a time and ate the entire whale because that is what she aspired to do. Even though people told her she was too small to eat it, by the time she was eighty-nine years old she finished eating the whale because she said she would. I wanted to bring this poem to life by creating a whale the would come out of the page because this poem has always pushed me through the hard times in life. So this is a tribute to my father for always sharing this with me and it will continue to push me to think positively.
