Brooklyn Museum – reflection

June 4, 2019 - Seminar 2

The artwork that I chose from the Brooklyn Museum is called “Because Once You Enter My House It Becomes Our House” by Jeffrey Gibson in 2018. Memories can be recalled by many moments during our life. Even some little things will make you think of the deep memory inside your mind. Same as the artist Jeffrey Gibson, he created this work by listening to the song “My house”; and inspired by the lyric of the song. In the way to express his memory in an abstract and artistic style. This piece makes me think about my research question about “What gives us the power to decide what our lives are?” Can memories become an invisible power that affects a person’s behaviors; something that can influence a person’ life by making decisions based on good or bad memories.
