Critical Works: Harvey Young: Chapter 3: White Ndounou, “Early black Americans on Broadway” and Miami by Joan Didion

In “Early black Americans on Broadway,” I learned about how George Walker and Bert Williams revolutionized African-American theater and  also furthered black stereotypes that would hurt future generations, I started to wonder if there were better ways to enter the entertainment industry, without damaging the African- American image.

In the beginning of the year, I had a hard time understanding and analyzing the readings assigned. Through the assignment of Miami, by Joan Didion, I learned how to focus on the stylistic choices the author made, while simultaneously breaking down the content.
