Jennifer Firestone, Assistant Professor of Literary Studies has had a book of poetry published by Belladonna* Collaborative. In dialogue with Emily Dickinson and other voices from the past, Gates & Fields maps a poetics of meditation and disjuncture, where loss is inconceivable and language, faith and the rituals of grief fall short. Gates and Fields demands an attention to the dead, the dying and those left behind.

Lang Alumni Emily Skillings (The Arts and Literary Studies, ’10) was one of the editors for this book. It was a nice full-circle experience in that Jennifer introduced Emily to Belladonna* Collaborative through her class. From there Emily began interning and then became a full board member. Emily will publish her first, full-length collection of poems, Fort Not, this fall.
