Cecilia Rubino participated in an impromptu Reading event Celebrating Women Activists after the NYC Women’s March.

The Next 100 Years! Stay Tuned : A celebration of American women’s activism.

100 years ago, women in New York State won the right to vote – A century later, the struggle continues. We’re just getting started!

AFTER THE WOMENS MARCH IN NYC! Join us for a site-specific performance event that will take over the historic and beautiful Jefferson Market Library, site of New York’s (in)famous Women’s Prison, with readings of words by fierce and inspiring women from throughout American history: suffragist writings, political speeches, poetry, essays, novels, journalistic reports, plays, recipes, and more. Our authors range from Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony to the Women’s Suffrage Cook book to Gertrude Stein to Eleanor Roosevelt and Shirley Chisholm to Octavia Butler, Maria Irene Fornes, Audre Lorde, Gloria Steinem and many more. Our readers are an amazing group and there will be surprise gifts. And refreshments!

 When: January 20, 2018, 5pm

After the Women’s March, on Arts Action Day

Where: Jefferson Market Library

425 6th Ave, at 10th Street, New York, NY
