Amanda Bellows, Faculty in History, presented her research on representation of Russian serfs and African American slaves in nineteenth-century fiction at the conference on “Freedoms Gained and Lost: Reinterpreting Reconstruction in the Atlantic World,” College of Charleston. The conference theme was in honor of the 150th Anniversary of South Carolina’s 1868 Constitutional Convention.
