Studio Bridge 2 – Portrait

Assignment Description:
Part 1:
Students will work in pairs. Each student will create an annotated map of their current
life and routine. An annotated map is a list of impressions, memories, notable facts,
interesting historical information of the space they inhabit (Parsons, their living quarters,
etc.). While simpler than our previous mapping project, your annotated map still needs
to read as a complete project with a “gallery ready” finish.
Part 2:
The pairs will switch annotated maps and use these to create portraits or avatars of
their partners based on the information given in the maps. The portraits cannot be
physical renderings of the annotated map authors.
My daily journals that helped me create a map:
Here is my map of the city that my partner used to render a portrait of me:
Here is my first draft:
The Map Zara created for me to render a portrait of her:

The indivdual photographs that I decided to use to create this project:
My final piece:
To make this, I used my digital camera and a tripod. After printing these indiviual images, I used a matte board and spray glue to peice together these images.
Reflection:
I was going for something that showed existence in more than one place. I think that the critique for this was spot on. People seemed to respond well.
