Artist Discovery Reflection

Whenever I found myself sitting down to do an artist discovery post, I could not really clear my mind properly knowing that there was a task at hand. I usually thought of projects going on in my other classes or personal life which would lead me down the road to finding the artist. It was still super beneficial to me because I was able to understand my other topics and get inspiration. I googled what I was thinking. Usually some blog post showed up with a list of artist that do something and I would pick the one that was the most interesting to me and further research that artist. I am really glad that it did because I learned a lot more about artists that can photograph fast fashion without photo journalism. The most different kind of artist, I think was Megan Galante. I was researching textile designers because I was interested in the field and wanted to know more. Through this process I learned that my mind is stubborn and doesn’t like to clear. I am fairly good when my meditation is guided but when I have to do it myself and am under pressure to do it for an assignment I get lost. I think that writing about these artists, however and documenting and writing down what they do helps me to remember who they are. I do a lot of research on artists in my spare time but never remember their names. I plan on continuing to do this weather it is writing in a journal or on a word document.
