Trying to solve the problem with this green room was a difficult task. At first we thought “Oh we are going to make a wall” Thats it. Put a couple of screws here and there. But it was a lot of designs that we had to change. Everything we did had a reason.
Initial sketch by renata. Thought this was just a funky crazy idea. Never knew it was going to turn into something so successful.
Testing the spacing between holes and building a fake wall. We looked back on this and said “Oh boy those grommets are so ugly”
“cutting away the fat” Learning how to simplify the wall.
Adding the chamfer really helps on the eye. That is why we could not stand the first grommets we made.
Had to put a back pannel to screw with their studs. This way we can have a free range of where to put our studs. What we did not realize was that the wall was build improperly and there were no studs or a good amount of space. Therefore we had to use dry wall anchors.
This project had a rough start in the beginning but things turned out great. I think working with a real client was an amazing experience. Having to work with actual clients on my own really helped us stand out I think. Although vanessa, the museum coordinator was very mean I think my group did an amazing job with the install. We completed it in 3 hours or so.
What I would do differently is trying more patterns with the peg wall as someone mentioned in the crit.
Figuring out how to make it so kids cannot climb on. There is a lot to this projec that could be worked on more. Maybe we want the kids to climb on it, and maybe it is also for hanging clothes.
