“Who Gets to Wear Shredded Jeans?” By: Troy Patterson
“Blue Jeans” By: Fred Davis
Jeans are worn by everyone; the rich, the poor, artists, children, etc. They merge our society together, a style which everyone and anyone can personalize and afford. They became popular do to their comfort and casual looking style. People payed/and continue to pay top dollar to look more causal, as it says in ‘Blue Jeans’. In “Who Gets to Wear Shredded Jean?”, the author talks about the ‘brand- new pair of good old bluejeans’. This speaks so true to jeans today, the best pair of jeans look worn and comfortable. And somehow the ripped jeans are the most expensive. He then continues to talk about the horrible catastrophe of the new style of jeans beings ripped or torn, by describing it as ‘ripped, blasted, trashed, wrecked, abused, destroyed, sabotaged and devastated’… When I think of the words good pair or jeans, the first image that pops up into my head is the old pair of jeans that fit comfortably and hugs my legs. He seems to be contradicting himself when he talks about this great pair of old jeans and then goes on to talk about how the worn look of jeans is horrible. There is something familiar and comfortable with old clothing, and the ripped jeans brings you back to that warm feeling.
