Artists use their techniques for various designs and effects. These artists, shown in the film, have completely changed my view of what an artist means. Going into Parsons, I truly believed that an artist means someone who could draw or paint. But artists can be anyone, anyone who has the ability to create something out of something less. The artists in the film use their knowledge on fish (which I would never have thought could play into the meaning of an artist) and they use it to sculpt a roll. To make art. They start from the bottom learning to perfect their skill. But they truly are artists. Jairo’s restaurant is in a Tokyo subway station, which to me sounds like artists working wherever they can to succeed. These artists have truly changed what I have previously believed the word ‘artist’ means.
