In class we made a story board to help us make a clear outline for our final essay. After class I typed up an outline based on the storyboard I created in class.

 

 

 

 

Outline for Final:

-intro paragraph

-history of bathing suits

bathing machines invented to preserve modesty- bloomers and weighted suits

extent of modesty (1)

annette kellerman- 1907 wore a bathing suit revealing her arms and legs- arrested (2)

jantzen knitting mills- 1921 launched their first one piece (3)

1930s- knitted thick wool suits turned into lasted material

1946- the first bikini was invented by Louis Reard- hired stripper to model it- “Bikini atol”

also people being arrested – not easy change

1946 Jacques Heim came up with the first model of the bikini called the Atome

-what caused bathing suits to get smaller and smaller?

influences of turning the beach into a relaxing area- railroad, more money

early 1900s mixed swimming became acceptable

1943- us govt passed a legislation,ten percent reduction in fabric, war efforts

going to shul covering hair

marriage- white dress and vail (to look past the outside)

romantic relationships- more trust, less about the body

-when did modesty become outdated? when did it become okay to wear less (change in govt?) when did different rules come about
