Firstly starting with the name Mariage D’amour it means Love marriage, this is a contradiction  on what are artwork is. We titled it that to get people thinking,  we want people to question the name. When looking at the project it was about the nuances how relationships can be both toxic yet codependent at the same time. This idea was going to be explored throughout sculpture. When looking at the foundation of a relationship it is about giving oneself to the other. Seamlessly pure, yet bold at the same time.

Love can be seen and interpreted differently as some ages. Bringing wiser and more careful over time, an adult would see the idea of love differently then lets say a 5 year old. Due to that we wanted to find and create an interactive piece that can explore the concept of how people view love. we found that it would be interesting to explore how 2 individuals can play with each others heart. We have all heard the saying “she/he is just playing games with me”. We thus leading us to design a sculpture using a heart at the point to show the idea of love as everyone no matter the age can read that symbol as “love” then around that designing a base to hold the piece up using wood to resemble a seesaw. This process comes from the idea that it can be viewed differently due to age. A child would just think that a sculpture that rocks back and forth would be just a fun game. But an adult with more life experience would and could view the idea of two people playing with a heart as different compared to a child. Lastly the sculpture was designed in a unique way where it takes two people to make the movement for the sculpture work, this reinstates the idea that it takes two people to make love work. But it only needs one person to turn away to make it fail. The middle join will be held up by tow supporting columns that will need to be picked up to make the object rock. Overall completing the sculpture.
