Title: Mother, Am I a Woman Now?
Materials: DSLR camera, tripod, Adobe Premiere Pro
Description: My studio will be a series of 10-15 short films between one and three minutes long, each telling a story of a different young woman or group of young women, and how Instagram specifically effects their social interactions and most importantly their relationship with themselves. It serves to be a documentation of coming of age in an era based in electronic media, where one can hold an entire world inside of an app in a phone in the palm of one’s hand. The films will be short, with simple shots and cuts, and heavily focused on the woman subject of the film. Each film will have its own setting, character, and general plot line; however, the films seek to give messages and feelings of coming-of-age, rather than tell an explicit story.
