Project 8: Building Blocks
Through this project, we need to build on the verb-driven material exploration from the last Project 7: Re-Claim + Process. The main direction is to identify 5 verbs that can be used to build something with your reclaimed material. Then, with those 3 verbs generate 3 different “building blocks” and 3 different sculptural samples for each.
My materials are cutboard which I got them from amazon and sephora. When I first to start this project, I tried to pick three verbs from my list, then list some shapes on my sketchbook to see how them go from a visual side. I really like this project, because I think it’s interesting to keep a material instead of throwing away. This project extent from the last project, which gives materials a new way to use, it can instead be considered a transition. Why I use cutboards as my materials, because they are really useful, and we see them all the time like on the streets everywhere when it comes to a day for recycling trashes.

From this project, I learn to re-claim and set up the process to make the unseeded things useful instead throwing them away. It’s just like what Matthew B. Crawford said, the “knowing” and “making” skills are very important to human beings. We are loosing these skill, and we haven’t realized it yet.
