Concept
My purpose for this project is to create a skeleton structure to cover the middle part of my back. I was inspired by my great-grandmother’s back. As I lived with her for a few years when I was a little, I always noticed that she had hunchback, it was caused by farming since she had to plant sorghum for family survival in the past. According to this, I want to make a design for not only recalling the memory of us, but also to reveal the effect that was caused by struggling for life in my great-grandmother’s generation.

Considers:
I want to make the final structure looks like the middle part of the back, but different from the actual bone structure.
Therefore, I decided to use different kind of wires. Specifically, the middle part of the structure I will use sculpture wire as it is firm enough to handle all of the other parts of the artwork. On the other hand, I will twist another two wires together to create the other two strong sticks for the sides outline.
I will wrap the wire into different waves to mimic the bone structure. When I am doing the experimental connections by wrapping and twisting wires, I find out that it is pretty hard to make the wire being smooth. I will work on the wave technique by using small pliers, and use thin and soft wire to help with the connections each joint.
