Starbucks cup is made up of two materials. It is served with a white paper for the hot drink and a transparent plastic cup for the cold drink. The drink sizes Starbucks offer are short (8 fl. oz.), tall (12 fl. oz.), grande (16 fl. oz.), venti hot(20 fl. oz.), cold (24 fl. oz.) and trenta (30 fl. oz.). When the drink includes whipped cream, the barista  close a cover shapen of the dome to maintain its shape instead of a flat cover. Depending on the sizes and type of drinks, the cups appear as different shapes but all the drinks remain same design. A simplified appearance of Siren that colored green is shown in the middle of the cup. The brown cup holder to protect from heat also maintains its simpleness by containing only a green logo. The logo is simple but it is one of the most recognizable logos in the world. Starbucks is opened in 64 countries with 23187 stores and 4 billion cups are used in one year. They change their design when the holidays comes such as Christmas ,which gives a specialty for a certain amount of time and draws an attention from customers. This year they color red on a whole white body of cup and remain the logo on the middle.

Even though  only the green circular shape is shown on the paper cup without any information, people, especially in NewYork will all recognize it as a Starbucks cup. In addition, One of my friends talked about it that New Yorker is not a New Yorker yet without grabbing Starbucks cup on his hand. Why are the people so crazy about Starbucks? and how does simple design become a trend icon? Starbucks cup is not just a recyclable and disposable cup anymore. It becomes a part of a culture and one of the fashion item. People think the Starbucks cup as a part of fashion in their daily look, so that they take a picture with and upload to their social networking services such as Instagram or facebook. It is easy to see many celebrities are obsessed with Starbucks as well. This circumstance shows that the logo can make such a big impact more than explaining with description. The logo tears down a wall of language and help easily notice their  brand.
