Creative Technical Studio 2 Final Project

Pattern Design

Design Statement

This jump suit is designed based on A-line silhouette. The print on the fabric was inspired by pattern marking symbols. Since summer is coming, I decided to make a very summer-ish  garment. Therefore I used very simple lines and Chinese typography to give the print more air and space. For the shoulder stipe, I decided to use the selvage of the fabric, because I am always very interested in the selvage design of fabrics and wonder if I could use it in me design. From doing this project, I learned a new way to document my work, which is, digital pattern. In this way, I can keep my patterns much easier and safer. The only challenge is that scanning and tracing can get a little bit complicated if the patterns are really large. In my case, I had to cut my patterns into several pieces and numbered and marked each before I started scanning. Spoon flower was a surprise to me. I am amazed and obsessed with what you can design with a fabric that is completely ideal to you instead of using the best match you can find in fabric stores. However I do have a  suggestion if you are interested in printing your design on this website, that is, try order as early as possible to save yourself some time and money since their service time and price could vary according to the amount of work they received.
