PART 2:

Reflection on Episodes 1+2 of “Transparent”

I learned how hard it must be for someone to tell their children they are transitioning to a different gender. I have gained an even higher respect for transgender people because of their extreme bravery.

Striking Moments:

-When Maura tells her support group that her kids are so selfish. This was striking to me because in the scene before he was telling his kids how much he loved them.

-When Maura first walks in on Sarah and Tammy, Sarah doesn’t really react about her father being dressed like a woman. I would have expected her reaction to be much more extreme. I was also shocked when Sarah started laughing in the car. Not the reaction I would expect.

-I thought it was very interesting that Josh wanted to keep the baby. Normally the stereotypical man would not want to keep that baby, but I appreciate the fact that he wants to keep the baby.
