MET Dutch Still Life Exercise

This piece is called Still Life with Oysters, a Silver Tazza, and Glassware. It was painted in 1645 by an artist named Heda. There are mostly dark browns in this painting. The colors are all basically the same value and hue. The only real color used in the painting is the yellow of the lemon skin. The piece of paper in the painting is supposed to be a page from the almanac, a symbol that reminds us that our days on earth are not endless. The tipped and broken wine glass reminds us that life pleasures quickly disappear.
