Black Mass tells the true story of Whitey Bulger, a violent gangster in an action packed film with amazing performances… or at least that’s what the synopsis and advertising for the movie claims. I disagree. I was expecting to learn the story of Bulger, but early into the film I started to get confused about whose story I was watching. Was it the story of the violent gangster or was it about the FBI agent who used to be his childhood friend?
