Here are photos of my final mask from 3 perspectives:
The patterns around the edges of the mask are inspired by what I saw at the exhibition mentioned in my story. Floral decorations in the forehead area of the mask are taken from the British-Made China. I wrote “American” in Chinese calligraphy and “Chinese” in English to represent my cultural confusion and the different views people about me. For the center of the plate/mask, I chose to draw NYC buildings to represent a scenery from my home, just as how the British incorporated a scenery from their home in the center of their China.
