I live in Newport, New Jersey. The scenery of Manhattan skyline which can be seen through my apartment’s window is gorgeous. Since I moved into my apartment, I have wanted to visit Hoboken. I have heard that Hoboken is a small beautiful place, the houses over there are stylish and has comfortable environment.

This is the view from my apartment’s window. The area I mark with circle is Hoboken.

Hoboken is the first place I chose. I found that it only took 15-20 minutes to walk there from my place, as a result I walked to Hoboken this morning. Walking on the wood walkway by Hudson river, the scenery was beautiful. I went to a meadow besides Hoboken train station. The weather was so good that some people were lying on the grass and relaxing. This scene made me recall the painting “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat.

I decided to use Pointillism art to illustrate this beautiful scene. I had to observe various colors and use these colorful dots to compose this work. I really enjoyed the process of analyzing color in the picture.

Reflection

This is my first time to use this method to draw. After doing this work, I realized that it’s hard to define the “finish” of this painting. If you want to fill every blank space with different tiny dots, that will be such a time-consuming work. However, I did not have more time to add more details in this picture. I would like to spend more time using more color and different dot size to refine this works.

(9/6) I just found this works from Ben Wiseman on Facebook. Both he and me were inspired by the same painting, and we used totally different way to represent our perspectives.
