For this project, I wanted to make a marionette puppet with a soft body. I wanted there to be a contrast between the unsettling face vs. a soft cuddly body.
I made the face, hands, and feet out of air-dry clay first.
The body was made of fleece. I found and referenced a simple stuffed bunny pattern and made it bigger for my project.
This is the process of putting the puppet together.
This is the whole body finished. I built a control, but it has been damaged.
As far as the character goes, I’d describe him as a friendly haunted toy, if he were to have a backstory.
