This project that I have challenged my self was a woodenhead that contains three drawers. I created drawers that could be taken out from two eyes and mouth. By opening the eyes and the mouth, I wanted people to have open minds rather than having a close mind. I also put memos in each drawer. In left eye, I put memos that have the word with “ The ability to see with the mind’s eye, whatever you see, the vision is linked to your mind”. The right eye contained a memo that contained these words: one human learns to see through the eye of the soul, a vision of new possibility unfolds. With every individual who awakens to the true self, the potential grows for creating a word born of the intrinsic oneness of the human sprit. By it’s nature the awakened soul sees the whole of things and the realization dawns that we are inextricably linked. It ( the opened eyes) allows to see things as they truly are and in the same way as other awakened souls. By putting in these memos in each eyes and according to people opening and closing those eye drawers, I wanted the audience to see the words and think or change their mind positively and feel the open minds by the actions. Lastly the mouth, It contained a phrase that said “ open your mind before you open your mouth.”
This project is a carved book sculpture, which I have illustrated my life experiences through it. It was conceptually based on the mind control studies which can be divided into two, One is the open mind and the other one is the close mind. During my life experiences, I have learnt that if you have open mind, you perceive every other thing in a positive way. They focus on its potential to add amounts of new model. Moreover they value the experiences itself over results for its ability to add new reference points to their reality.
So by carving my “Art Book” of a human’s side face, I carved multiples of faces and showed the stages that I went through. A close-minded person who filtered potential new situations, I carved the human face with smaller holes. However, as the page goes to other side, the carved side face had bigger holes and was able to an empty lock at the end and could be opened with the key that has been hanged in the middle of the book.
