Derive map 1

The elaboration of this idea was based on the expansion of the previous one. In this digital collage, everything that happened in my brain was depicted; annoying and relaxing sounds, moving crackled leaves forming a carpet that reminded me of freedom, a perception of a certain connectivity between statues, the vision of two different worlds (above the manhole and underneath), the transition from an urban world to a rural one, the disorganized chairs that reminded me of the slightly disorganized person I am, the fence that reminded me of my childhood’s hunting monster. The modified map represents my first idea (derive initial findings post). Finally, the presence of Yiting’s eye glasses summarizes what my derive was about:

What my brain sees derives from what reality is about. As I am walking, my flooding thoughts are plowing into each other.

In biology, memory is kept in the parts situated at the back of the brain. Hence the location of many elements in this place. The purpose of placing the chair and pigeon on the top of the brain was to show that they are the elements that grabbed my attention the most. The brain’s blue lines are drawn with the intention of highlighting the succession of events, my deriving promenade.

Media: Digital collage.
