Over the weekend and into this week I spent some time on a New Yorker blog I often read, Page-Turner, which has recently included a piece about New Directions Press by Maria Bustillos (whom we read in my David Foster Wallace class); one by Edwidge Danticat about James Baldwin (whose work we always read in my religion writing classes); a third by Peter Bebergal, whom I wrote my first book with, about Jessica Crispin’s The Creative Tarot, just out from Touchstone Press; and one by David Foster Wallace biographer D.T. Max titled “Beyond Infinite Jest.”
The photo above is from Bustillos’s piece, and it features Tennessee Williams; James Laughlin, the founder of New Directions Press; and the poet Ruth Walgreen Stephan.
