Reflection

Art history has always interested me throughout my growth as an artist, specifically the beginning of the renaissance time period! I feel like this is the highlight of technical abilities for artists, not only technicality, but also the uses of color, the introduction to a vanishing point which adds a stronger sense of realism. The fresco paintings that were mastered during this time period depicts frames of motion, which I find very interesting! Personally, I have seen some of the paintings we studied in class, so I can make connections to what my eyes have seen and what qualities we studied in class.

I feel as though, my participation could have improved. I was always very enthused to go to class, I just don’t do mornings well! I did the weekly readings and was highly interested in the pieces we studied, I assumed I would have a harder time understanding early pieces, such as, the Paleolithic time period and Egyptian art.

This course has enforced the importance of analyzation, not just in art, but in any design process. In class, we constantly observed an object and made strong hypothesis to get a better understanding of the history or people behind it. My interest for art history will further impact my projects throughout my life and has improved my observation abilities.
