2D Wire Portrait of Josefina

IMG_1476

This is the 2D wire portrait I made of Josefina. First, I did several blind contour drawings of her and picked my favorite to turn into a wire piece. I then took both thick and thin black wire and used pliers to twist each wire piece into the shapes of her face. I tried to follow the blind contour as best I could, but strayed from the drawing a bit as I tried to attach wires together. Once the face was constructed, I attached it to white mat board by poking holes in the board and sewing the wire face down with thin wire.

Although very simple and not incredibly detailed, I think my piece captures a likeness and certain aspects of Josefina’s personality.
