Research Reflection: Promotional Videos Database

While watching these videos on Art21 it gave me a ton of inspiration on how to make my video for my tool. I liked how Art21 did not just have the video interview playing the entire time but broke it up to make it a more interesting video. I enjoyed how in each one they put the art and examples of what the artists are talking about as the interview is going on. Also, each interview tended to focus on the meaning behind the work and the process. It was interesting to hear what each of these artists works meant to them and how the videos were edited to see what piece and details they were talking about when describing the background of the work. I also enjoyed seeing how each artist created their work and how the pieces they create transform throughout the videos. One thing I noticed is that you don’t ever hear what the questions are that are being asked to the artist. I really like that aspect because it didn’t distract from the focus of what was the main topic, the artist.
