Research Paper Proposal

Please provide responses for each of the following headings related to your Seminar research paper. Share your research proposal with the class via Canvas and post this to your LP.

Research Question (see chapters 3-4 of The Craft of Research for more info on fleshing this out)

I am studying Fast fashion because I want to find out what/why/how it affects the current wave of designers and how they work in order to help my reader understand how the fashion industry tackles being one of the most environmentally unfriendly industry.

Keywords (terms related to your research topic that you’re using to find academic sources)

ecology, fast fashion, forever21, H&M, global warming and fashion, denim, water, coal, natural resources, depletion of natural resources,

Background/Context (what you currently know about this topic)

I took AP Environmental sciences, so I am familiar with ecology. I learned about fast fashion, the basics, when I was in 8th in a camp that was run by a reused fabric store.

Preliminary Argument (your current stance on the research question based on initial research)

I intend to argue that fast fashion is a force that needs to be changed and dealt with but not only that the fashion industry needs to be re-invented to more eco-friendly.

Significance (the “so-what” factor; think about the significance to our IS2 class, Parsons, The New School, and the larger fashion community)

The significance of this research is that climate change is a thing that is happening and it has to be dealt with. Fashion is an industry driven by society, and at the rate the world is going, there might not even be an industry.

Research Outcomes (discuss the final paper and the larger connections you intend to make to your Studio project)

My research will result in a final research paper and a photo spread that talks about nature in the city.
