Flats

these are the flat designs of the dress. It’s what it’ll look like when draped on the figure, for the most part.

It might look like this with out he darts if I decide to make the skirt a circle skirt

Sketches #1

Above is the first layer. It will be made up of sketches and iterations of the pattern. It’ll be asymmetrical and ragged and diy looking.

IMG_2471

The second layer is made up of muslin. It’ll also have layers of the patterns w mistakes.

The third and final layer is the “final product” It’s made up of a transparent fabric, maybe chiffon or silk of a sort

This is what the dress will like with all the layers put on top of each other. But of course it’ll vary depending on how the layers get done.

Brief for project 4

The project I want to do is based on the concept of the time flow of the creative process. The time flow would be represented in a 3D garment. The garment will be constructed of the process, process will be the garment. This means that the garment is constructed of illustrations and the pattern made in the process of creating a full garment. I want the layers of creation to be seen so it will be like a three tiered garment where from the bottom the view will be the initial process and as the eye travels up the garment will be more “finished.” The garment is essentially made of 2D and digital elements pertaining to the concept.

I would use a combination of illustrator, 2D, and 3D work. I would create sketches and notes on 2D while researching the project, illustrator to create the final sketch and the patterns for the dress, and 3D work to make the garment itself. The materials I will need will be: paper, a mannequin, sewing machine/thread, adobe/laptop, and fabric.

The concepts used would be a combination of Deleuze and design theory. Deleuze Because it’s process it can be seen as secondness because we’re consciously experiencing the process of creation. Design theory because I’m going to have to consciously decide on which theories to use and which to not to use in order to make a successful piece.

PROJECT 3 book final

When I started working on the project I really didn’t understand the concepts fully. I read and re-read the Deleuze reading to get a better understanding. I did outside research but it wasn’t until I started visualizing what I was reading.

For the liqueous perception image, this is what I understood:

Also known as the subjective Image

Where image in film are organized around a distinct center

A character

Not necessarily a person or animal or an object

But a subject

For the gaseous perception image:

Also known as the objective image

Where images are interacting with each other without creating a subject

There is no center

No character

These are also the text that I included on the lenticular (two pictures folded in accordion fashion). I wanted to keep the text simple and clean so I used variations of Helvetica Neue. Helvetica Neue thin for the informational text, and Helvetica Neue bold for the questions. I made the color of the text same to the color of the opposite picture. I decided to keep the boxes white because I prefer the box framing the text and the text feathering out of the image.

I chose the red photo for the gaseous image because it conveyed a long shot but also distorted it. Since the gaseous image is also about the montage, I used a screenshot of a montage. Because it’s between scenes, it had over lap so the image wasn’t really clear, thanks to this it further exemplifies the location with out a character. So I thought that it was the perfect representation of perception image.

I used the same location for the second photo because using the same setting is a lot more effective at showing the difference between two parts of the same theory. I chose the blue hue with the girl looking at her phone for the liqueous image specifically. This is for many reasons, one, there is a central character. It’s a girl looking down and into her phone, with the little with the red on the exit sign there’s just a little bit of exposition. It sets up her as a character and as the center. I also chose blue because it added to the sadness, and because I wanted a sharp contrast to the red.

Above is the mind map on the firstness, seconness, and thirdness. Also on perception image, emotional image, and liqueous image.

I was debating if I wanted to sue the book together, like a traditional art book. But I decided against it because that didn’t seem effective for the concept.

Bridge Project 3

The setting of our narrative takes place in a zombie apocalypse. We follow our protagonist Tina on her journey to safety. On her way we witness her utilizes four distinct tools  and tool box such as the Pant Protector, Shoebrella, Nope Box, and the Toe Stubber Stopper.

We created the tool box itself out of cardboard, duct tape, and spray paint, we added latches with plumbing tape.

I was in charge of taking photos editing photos, adding filters to photos my team mates added, and creating the movie.

The biggest challenge was telling people what to do. Because I was in charge of the film aspect, I naturally became in charge of telling my group mates to re edit. I had to tell them how to edit as well. But teaching someone over facebook messenger has it’s difficulties. Thankfully I didn’t have to give much advice, but I did have to ask them to change many aspects of their edits. I didi reedit a couple as well.

I did the film and that was fun todo, it was an interesting way to tell the story. I do wish I had gotten multiple shots of tina’s feet so it really looked like she was moving.

so sorry for the delay I had mis placed it for a bit.

I had a lot of fun doing this, the color scale was difficult for me beause I don’t really think in colors in hues/intensities this intensely. Like for lighter I only think of “oh lets just add white to it” and the darkest is usually just the purest form of the color.
