Media: Visual Narrative

For this project, I decided to create an animation instead of combining multiple clips of videos together because I’ve always wanted to explore more into animation. I wanted this video to be something fun to watch and have a playful effect on it (game-like). I combined still images I both took myself and modified some on photoshop that I took from the internet to create certain movements (especially of the little man).

As my first time making an animation, I faced some difficulty throughout the process. I struggled mostly with speeding up and slowing down the video because as they are still images with multiple layers, I have to adjust each layers using several keyframes to get all the images to line up smoothly. Instead of deleting the keyframes and re-creating it, I would adjust the positions of the objects itself, which creates a lot of the glitches in the animation. If I got another chance to work on animation again, that would be one thing I’d change — erasing it all before trying to adjust it (my unwilling to redo it slowed the process down a lot more). Overall, I really enjoyed working on this project. The openness of the concepts allowed me to explore more on using the tools in premiere itself, rather than focusing too much on the concept and the meaning behind the footage.
