Myth Assignment Reflection – Seminar – Nathaniel Leshem

I really enjoyed this project because I felt it delved deeper than the rest we have done this year. We were not only asked to see a character’s perspective from another point of view but also asked to interject parts of our own perspective into the text as well as the visual response. From the start this got me thinking in creative and new ways. For this assignment I really wanted to take the opportunity to put myself in the shoes of the protagonist from my story. By walking over eighty blocks I felt I was able to immerse myself into the myth and ultimately write a better story while also visually documenting it. I also think that the research part of the project was a good addition because it helped me explore different aspects of my story more deeply, and see other people’s points of view on what I was trying to reinterpret. I found it very interesting that Jodie commented on how my video looks a lot like my drawings. I had never considered this before but I realized that what she said was definitely true, and it gave me a deep sense of satisfaction to know that I was exploring my voice in other ways. The fact that this project another version of what I like to do most says a lot about its effectiveness. I also thought it got the class as a whole went much deeper than usual.  I think overall this project challenged me physically and mentally and required me to think deeply and from multiple perspectives.

The fact that the studio project turned out to be another version of what I like to do most says a lot about its effectiveness. I also thought it got the class as a whole to go much deeper than usual.  I think overall this project challenged me physically and mentally and required me to think deeply and from multiple perspectives.
