FINAL: Sound and Video: “Reverie”

The theme of this project is “Dream” or as titled “Reverie.”

Sound: Because time is constant and ever going, the ticking sound in the back is continuous and lasts throughout the entire duration. Breathing and heartbeats are included because they are the auditory characteristics of dreaming. As the sound progresses, more layers of sound are added to create the effect of building up and climax of a dream. Reverbs are also added to create a dream-like effect.

Sound/Video: The video depicts the disoriented and unjointed feeling and sighting in a dream. This effect was created by blurring some frames and double layering the frames with different opacities. The sound enhances the idea of dreaming through the heavy breathing that usually takes place while sleeping. The clock ticks enhance the idea that time is constant while sleeping, even though it may feel faster or slower than reality. Furthermore, the clock continues to tick as a symbol that time persists after waking up. After waking up, nothing changes, except for the dreamer’s mind.
