Second Skin ( Space/Materiality: Body)

For my very first project in space and materiality : body class, we had to create a “second skin”. We first had to create 9 drawings of outlines of our hands and layer each one on top of each other. Then we had to come up with 2 different patterns inspired by Mc Esther, the artist that converges two patterns together, and from there we had to come up with 12 different test to see which folds, sews, patterns, etc that could hold up and make a “second skin”/glove. Once we figured what type of pattern we were creating for the glove, we had to map it out on our hands and see how the “material” was going to work and function.  Finally, we had to construct the glove. Overall I found this project interesting because I was able to explore and see how a material could change or inflict hand movements.
