As for our third project in drawing the imagination class, we had to set a rule for our selfs and create a new piece everyday for a whole week following that rule. I decided for my rule to use watercolor in all my pieces. I personally don’t use watercolor as much as other medias such as acrylic or oil paint. I find watercolor a harder media to use, so I wanted challenged my self to use watercolor everyday.
At first I didn’t know what to do with the medium, I didn’t know if I wanted to use by it’s self or use it as color for the images I created. Then I decided to use the watercolor as a practice of blending in different colors, layering, and the harshness of pigments like we did in class. From there I would cover the entire paper with one or couple other colors and let what ever shapes colors inspire me to draw whatever items come out of the paper. I grabbed a blue ball point pen to create 6 different illustrations. I didn’t want to have to much of complication of using different mediums, so I kept it super simple with watercolor and a blue ball pen
Overall, I learned in this project that I grew to like watercolor more and more throughout the week. I personally would like to experiment more in the future with this medium and see what I can do to implicate it into my artwork.
