I slay, okay

Okay ladies, now let’s get in formation
You know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation
Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper

What does Beyoncé mean “best revenge is your paper?”

Beyonce has always filled her music with a sense of female empowerment, most evidently in her song “Formation”. Based on the highly personal lyrics, the song is all about who Beyonce really is. The songs constant theme of “I slay, OK, I slay,” is not just a self-referential note to her fans, it’s Beyonce way of saying there is a reason she slays. Beyonce built her career from the ground up and proves that if you work hard, you play hard. “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper” is the chorus at the end of the song. I believe this sets a great example to young girls around the world, that if you stay dedicated to your work, your success will be your revenge for the world.
