Historic Wins for Women

What do the historic wins in 2018 tell us about women and leadership at this point in time?

In 2018, women candidates have broken the record for the number of candidates for governor, U.S. House and U.S. Senate and the trend had continued into the 2018 midterm elections. This initiative shows that the American people truly want change, especially after years of anger and frustration from Donald Trump’s election.

What do these wins reveal about authenticity and reframing narratives?

I think that this election revealed that the American people are finally willing to change and reframe past narratives. I believe that this surge of women will change American politics.

What surprised you about these outcomes?

What surprised me the most about the outcome of this election was the stories of these women. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest member ever elected to Congress at just age 29. Her story is truly inspiring, and I think she will make a fantastic role model to girls around America.

What are the most important pieces of our democracy need repair to ensure that all voters have an equal voice in the election process?

Encourage Voters actually to vote! I think the most important thing right now is to make voting easier! For example, I believe that every state should have same-day registration.
